Overview

As an Urban Economist at Foster + Partners, you will help shape the economic foundations of innovative urban projects across the globe. Working within a multidisciplinary team of designers, planners and researchers, you’ll develop strategic economic insights, analyse city-scale trends, and translate data into narratives that strengthen project visions, masterplans and regeneration strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct economic and spatial research across cities, regions and development sites.
  • Analyse demographic trends, real estate markets, industry sectors and urban policies.
  • Develop economic narratives, strategic rationales and project positioning.
  • Prepare economic programmes, briefs and demand/supply assessments for masterplans.
  • Contribute to R&D initiatives by creating tools, methodologies and analytical frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with economic, spatial and real-estate analysis methods.
  • High proficiency in Excel for modelling and data analysis.
  • Ability to contribute clearly and confidently to project narratives and reports.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience or academic background in urban economics, economic development, real estate or urban planning.
  • Experience with GIS or spatial analysis tools is beneficial.
