Job Description

Corporate Asset Management (CAM) is responsible for providing fleet, logistics and property services. We have circa 300 staff within the team, based at our Logistics Centre in Perry Barr, our HQ at Lloyd House, or locally across our sites within the West Midlands.

CAM are proud to be a key enabling function in the delivery of policing to the West Midlands Community. There are three key areas within CAM, these are:

Estates Strategy Delivery – this team leads on property disposals, acquisitions, construction, major refurbishment, relocations and strategic estates demand management.

Property & Estates Management – this team leads on repairs and maintenance, engineering, compliance, environmental strategy, health & safety, facilities management and landlord & tenant.

Fleet & Logistics – this team leads on vehicle recovery, fleet provision and maintenance, transport and logistics, uniform, print and detained property.

Reporting to the Building Works Manager the Project Officer role will be responsible for capital and major revenue building improvement and new build projects from design to completion, undertaking Project Management and building design functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake surveys and feasibility studies and prepare specifications for building and associated projects, liaising with other appropriate building design specialists.
  • To prepare specification, tender and contract documentation in liaison with appropriate officers of West Midlands Police and external consultants.
  • To Project Manage Construction related projects from inception through occupation to final completion.
  • To be responsible for the passing of accounts related to projects inspected and/or project managed.
  • To prepare applications for statutory approvals and ensure the compliance of Police & Crime Commissioners buildings.

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test.

Hours of Work and Flexibility

This is a full-time position working between core hours of 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. The role is hybrid working with 60% of working days on-site.
