Social Care Officer

About The Role

This is a fixed term contract until March 2028

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for experienced Social Care Officers to support vulnerable adults, including those with physical disabilities, dementia, and older adults. The role requires a dedicated, flexible professional with high standards and strong knowledge of Adult Social Care.

Responsibilities

• Work with vulnerable adults and carers to help them achieve ambitions, maintain independence, and build supportive networks.
• Deliver a flexible service that meets user needs within budgetary constraints and complies with regulatory standards.
• Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding, and government initiatives; practise information sharing and data protection in line with current law.
• Collaborate with managers and colleagues to share good practice, promote consistency, and champion changes, particularly relating to the personalisation agenda.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience working with vulnerable adults and carers in a social care environment.
• Ability to travel around the borough and meet travel requirements of the post (Monday to Friday).
• Strong team working, partnership, and communication skills with service users, internal colleagues, senior managers, and stakeholders.
• Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
• Self‑management and coping mechanisms to handle workload responsibilities.
