Civic and Projects Officer

Contract: Temporary, Full Time
Salary: £36,363 – £39,152 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive Civic and Projects Officer to join Ipswich Borough Council on a temporary full-time basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of civic functions, community initiatives, and key projects that contribute to the borough’s strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating civic events, supporting project delivery, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring the effective administration of council activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of civic events, ceremonies, and official engagements.
- Assist in the management and delivery of projects across council services.
- Liaise with councillors, community groups, partner organisations, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and project documentation.
- Monitor project milestones, budgets, and performance indicators.
- Organise meetings, maintain records, and provide administrative support to committees and working groups.
- Support community engagement initiatives and public consultations.
- Ensure compliance with council policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience in a similar role within the UK.
- Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or must be willing to obtain one.
- Experience supporting projects, programmes, events, or civic functions.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and building positive professional relationships.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience within local government, the public sector, education, housing, charities, or community-focused organisations is desirable.
