Role Type: Full time, permanent. Location: Sheffield. Salary: £34,000 per year (All in). Working Hours: 1 week rotation – Mornings (Monday to Friday – 6am until 2:30pm) and Nights (Monday to Thursday – 6pm until 4am).

Role Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist (Turning) to join their team in Sheffield. As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for the precision machining of high-integrity components to meet stringent customer and industry requirements. The role involves working with high-performance and exotic materials, producing components to tight tolerances, and ensuring all work complies with company quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Operate manual lathes and related machining equipment safely and efficiently
  • Work within company quality systems and procedures to ensure full compliance
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into finished machined parts
  • Machine high-grade and difficult materials, including Inconel 718 and similar alloys
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a safe, clean, and organised work area
  • Meet agreed production times while maintaining quality and accuracy standards
  • Select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds to achieve optimal machining performance
  • Support continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and workshop practices
