Drainage Engineer

Location: Millbrook Depot (Southampton, Hampshire)

Job Type: Permanent, full‑time

Hours: 4 Days On 4 Days Off, 40.25 hours average per week

Salary: £27,300 per annum

Responsibilities

• Travel to residential sites via HGV in a two‑person team, powering a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
• Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
• Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
• Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
• Deliver good customer service.
• Maintain good H&S practice while carrying out works.
• Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
• Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site set‑ups protecting employees, the public and other road users.
• Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
• Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
• Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
• Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions dependent on specific circumstances upon arrival.
• Provide support to colleagues.
• Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
• Report any defects or malfunctions regarding training.
• Carry out risk assessments and maintain a mature approach to risk perception.
• Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and comply with responsibilities.
• Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hard working, respectful, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Experience in the use of high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
• Other drainage qualifications such as NRSWA and confined spaces are an advantage.
• Full training provided.
