Job Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Dental Nurse Manager for the Special Care & Sedation Services to join a diverse team. The post holder will be contracted to work on a permanent basis, part time, 3 days per week, Monday – Wednesday, 22.5 hours a week working days within the Special Care Team with some support across the Restorative Dentistry Department. Whilst the main site of work will be at The Royal London Dental Hospital in Whitechapel, there may be a requirement to work in our associated sites (e.g. dental outreach).
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a compassionate and caring approach to patients, be well organised, well presented, practice excellent Infection Prevention and Control, be flexible in their approach to work, be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as using their own initiative.
Responsibilities
- The post holder will provide leadership to the Dental Nurse team on a daily basis, inspiring them with strong leadership, excellent clinical skills and a visible and exemplary commitment to patient-centredness.
- The post holder will work collaboratively with the Lead Dental Nurse and the Matron to escalated department and staffing issues where appropriate.
- The post holder will carry out clinical dental nursing on a minimum of two days per week, ensuring credibility with the nursing team and role‑modeling excellent clinical nursing skills.
- The post holder will line‑manage the Senior Dental Nurses and an agreed number of Dental Nurses in the department.
- As well as line management of Dental Nurses the post holder will work closely with the Senior Dental Nurses to delegate several key operational tasks to the SDNs in the day‑to‑day operational management of clinical services.
- The post holder will represent their department at nurse management meetings and the clinical governance group and will be expected to take responsibility for delivering agreed actions with nursing teams.
- The post holder will deputise for the Lead Dental Nurse in her absence.
- The post holder will manage several required operational tasks for their department, as set out by the Management Team. This will include, as a minimum, responsibility for ordering stock and ensuring maintenance and repair of equipment.
