Grantham | 40 hours per week | Flexible working pattern | £55,000 – £65,000

The Role

As Operations Manager you will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant running of a busy WEEE waste processing facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you’ll lead from the front – overseeing people, processes, and performance to deliver operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day management of site operations, ensuring safe and efficient performance across multiple processing plants
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental permits, health & safety legislation, and internal policies
  • Manage, develop, and inspire site teams, building a strong culture of accountability and teamwork
  • Deliver against key operational targets including safety, productivity, quality, and service
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer demands
  • Manage site maintenance strategy to minimise downtime and maximise operational resilience
  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and track KPIs, reporting into senior leadership
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulators, contractors, and suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational performance, safety, and sustainability
  • Support wider business projects and growth initiatives as required

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience in an operations management role within a regulated industry
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and permitting
  • Demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams
  • A passion for coaching and developing future leaders
  • Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong financial awareness, including budget management
  • A clear and unwavering commitment to health & safety
  • Track record of delivering continuous improvement projects with measurable business impact

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
  • WAMITAB / COTC qualification
  • Experience within waste management, recycling, or environmental services
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including regulators and customers
  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Operations Management, or similar
