Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safeguarding Officer to join our team at Cadbury College for a fixed term role providing maternity cover from June 2026 to June 2027. This is a vital role within the College, supporting the safety, wellbeing, and protection of our students.

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a key role in promoting a safe and supportive environment for all students, particularly those who may be vulnerable or at risk. You will work closely with staff, external agencies, and safeguarding leads to ensure concerns are managed effectively and in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures across the College
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and make appropriate referrals to internal and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records
  • Work closely with staff to provide advice and guidance on safeguarding matters
  • Support students at risk, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place
  • Contribute to safeguarding training and awareness across the College
  • Liaise with external agencies such as social services and support organisations
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Essential
  • Experience working in a safeguarding, welfare, or support role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex situations
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Desirable
  • Relevant safeguarding or child protection qualification/training
  • Experience working in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of multi‑agency working practices
