We are currently partnering with a leading social housing provider based in Bristol, who are recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position with a salary of £65,000 per annum and the start date is subject to notice.

This is a hybrid role with travel required to the office up to two days per week.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading on procurement and purchasing activities and acquisitions (contracts, products and services) for the organisation by securing services on a competitive tender basis and through purchasing agreements
  • Maximising the use of available budgets and delivering added service value (quality, social and environmental)
  • Providing inspiring leadership, promoting agility and empowering colleagues to deliver a great customer experience and the highest standards of performance, compliance and efficiency
  • Developing and delivering a Procurement and Purchasing Strategy across the organisation to deliver the target benefits and financial savings; engaging support and agreement for the Strategy from key stakeholders so that implementation and compliance are optimal
  • Developing and agreeing with relevant stakeholders an ongoing Procurement Plan that details forward procurement activities to be undertaken in order to meet strategic and general business needs
  • Defining and managing key supplier relationships to optimise performance on cost, service and quality through purchasing agreements
  • Developing and agreeing annual cost savings and Value for Money targets

Experience required:

  • Significant, evidenced experience of working in a procurement or purchasing role within the housing sector or similar regulated sector
  • Stakeholder management at senior levels within a business
  • Proven experience of managing major procurement exercises with responsibility for delivery of procurement value for money benefits including financial and non-financial benefits
  • Experience of making sound, evidence-based judgements, assessing relevant risks and identifying business procurement opportunities
  • Experience of inspiring colleagues through confident, energetic, and visible leadership

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) full professional qualification in Procurement and Supply
  • An understanding of group structures and VAT and tax efficiencies of working through such structures
  • Knowledge of financial, legal and corporate responsibility issues
  • Excellent communicator, negotiator and influencer, demonstrating strong financial and commercial awareness with a thorough understanding of the importance of effective and efficient procurement processes. Knowledge of the latest National and International Procurement legislation and regulations
  • Expert knowledge of procurement tools and techniques
  • Strong project management, analytical and interpersonal skills
