At Lucion Delta-Simons, we’ re looking for a talented Principal or Associate Drainage Engineer to join our welcoming Water Team. This is more than just another consultancy role. It’s an opportunity to lead, innovate and influence the future direction of our drainage services while working on a fascinating mix of planning and development projects across the UK.
From crafting smart SuDS solutions to tackling tricky surface water and foul drainage challenges, you’ ll be the go-to expert helping clients turn ambitious developments into reality.

What You’ ll Be Doing
- Lead drainage projects from concept through to completion
- Prepare fee proposals, tenders and drainage strategies that make a difference
- Deliver sustainable drainage (SuDS) designs that balance innovation, practicality and compliance
- Mentor and develop junior team members, sharing knowledge and building capability
- Review reports, calculations and technical drawings with confidence
- Build trusted client relationships and offer expert advice on complex drainage issues
- Help grow and shape our detailed drainage offering across new and existing markets
- Collaborate with talented specialists across the wider Lucion Group
What We’ re Looking For
You’ ll be someone who combines technical excellence with commercial awareness and enjoys building strong relationships along the way.
Ideally, you’ ll bring:
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- 8+ years’ drainage engineering or consultancy experience
- Strong knowledge of planning policy, drainage guidance and regulatory processes
- Proven SuDS design experience from concept to detailed design
- Experience managing projects and engaging with clients and statutory consultees
- Proficiency in InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow and/or similar software
- Understanding of flood risk assessments and their impact on drainage strategy
- Membership of a relevant professional body
Bonus Points If You Have
- Chartered status (or you’ re working towards it)
- Experience with QGIS or other GIS software
- Knowledge of Section 104, 106 and 278 infrastructure design and delivery
