Overview

The successful candidate will work across all sites providing cover for the Engineering Manager as required to operate and maintain the Trust’s ventilation, medical gas, steam, water, heating, plant and associated mechanical systems and permits. They will work closely with the operational teams for the safe delivery of maintenance to the standard prescribed by the Engineering Manager to achieve outstanding NHS PAM results. In the absence of the Engineering Manager, they will be authorised signatory, budget holder and any other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Support mechanical integration and delivery of estates and capital new build/refurbishment projects, ensuring Trust & Industry standards are maintained as well as resilience & maintainability of engineering systems. Participate in the on‑call rota and have sole responsibility for managing emergency situations for the Trust out of hours, including medical gas issues, steam failure, fire and fire alarms, oil and fuel spillages, etc.

Qualifications

Experience is vital for the role. You should be mechanically biased with knowledge of water safety, ventilation, medical gases and steam systems. You will need to work up to S‑AP level and be able to demonstrate the required skills, being self‑motivated and an excellent communicator.
