Job Description:

We are partnering with a leading global industrial solutions company to recruit a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their UK operations. The client specialises in advanced chemical and manufacturing solutions for sectors such as metals, automotive, aerospace, and industrial engineering.

This is a senior technical role offering the chance to lead mechanical engineering projects, mentor teams, and optimise manufacturing systems across high-performance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimisation of mechanical systems in manufacturing and processing operations.
  • Manage mechanical engineering projects from concept through execution, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and process teams to resolve complex mechanical challenges.
  • Develop specifications, mechanical documentation, and maintenance strategies for equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovative engineering practices within operations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Typically 8 years’ experience in mechanical engineering within industrial or chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design, stress analysis, rotating and static equipment, and system optimisation.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant mechanical codes, standards, and process safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence and mentor across teams.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
