Hardware Engineer – RF45454
Position: Hardware EngineerLocation: StevenageSalary: £40,000-£50,000
Our client, a rapidly growing UK‑based health tech start‑up, is building wearable technology to support people living with neurological conditions. They need a self‑starter Hardware Engineer to lead PCB redesigns, prototype builds, and field issue resolution in a small, high‑impact team.
Responsibilities
- Own PCB redesigns and iterative improvements (cost, reliability, manufacturability, power efficiency, component availability).
- Diagnose and resolve field and production issues (root cause analysis, corrective actions, ECOs).
- Improve battery life, vibration drive efficiency, robustness, and overall system reliability.
- Manage obsolescence and supply‑chain risks (alternates, second sources, lifecycle planning).
- Define hardware architecture for next‑gen (MCU/SoC selection, power architecture, sensors, comms).
- Produce schematics, PCB layouts and engineering documentation.
- Lead prototype builds and bring‑up (debug, test, validation, design iterations).
- Drive DFM/DFA planning in collaboration with the manufacturing partner.
Qualifications
- Significant professional experience designing electronics and PCBs for shipped products (ideally wearables, consumer electronics, or medical/wellness devices).
- Strong schematic capture and PCB design capability, including low‑power design techniques.
- Proven experience taking products from concept → prototype → NPI → production.
- Solid understanding of power management (battery‑powered systems, charging, LDOs/DC‑DCs, fuel gauging).
- Proven experience with MCU‑based embedded hardware, clocks, comms buses (I²C/SPI/UART), debugging.
- Experience with motor/actuator drive circuits (haptics), EMI/EMC fundamentals, ESD protection.

- Working hours: Monday to Friday (09:00‑17:00)
