Your New Role

As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the technical delivery of engineering projects and work packages, ensuring outputs are safe, compliant, and aligned to project objectives.

Working within our Project Engineering function, you’ll collaborate closely with the Project Engineering Manager and cross-functional teams to drive delivery across complex rolling stock projects and bids in the UK.

This role is ideal for a qualified engineer with experience or exposure to project oversight, who is looking to further develop into an independent engineering practitioner in a dynamic project environment.

Some Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and coordinate engineering activities across projects or phases, ensuring delivery to scope, time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Manage engineering deliverables in line with specifications, standards, and governance processes.
  • Support bids and proposals, including technical input and cost estimation.
  • Monitor and manage technical risks, issues, and progress, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain robust configuration control and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, project management, and wider business functions
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations

About You

We’re looking for qualified, experienced engineers who can bring both technical expertise and strong project awareness:

You’ll have:

  • A degree in Engineering (or equivalent), with Chartered status (or working towards).
  • Experience in an engineering environment with exposure to project delivery or oversight
  • Understanding of engineering processes, governance, and project lifecycles.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively across teams
  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to elevate risks and drive solutions
  • Experience within rolling stock or rail engineering
  • Knowledge of systems engineering approaches and industry standards
  • Experience working in international or multi-disciplinary environments.
