Job Description:

Holtec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission called the SMR-300 small modular reactor. The position is offered by SMR LLC, a member of the Holtec International family—a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry. Areas of Responsibility

  • Requirements development
  • Design specification development
  • System analysis
  • Licensing conformance evaluations
  • Read, interpret and develop electrical diagrams
  • Perform electrical calculations
  • Perform vendor selection and vetting
  • Perform cable routing and associated analysis

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • 2–5 years of Electrical engineering experience, or equivalent.
  • Solid working knowledge of Electrical design methods, tools, and regulatory requirements.
  • Produces clear technical documents and design deliverables with minimal editing.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and contributes to meetings.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment on routine engineering problems with supervision.
  • Organizes workload to meet deadlines; beginning to prioritize tasks independently.
  • Adapts to changing project requirements and environments.
  • Collaborates well in multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands‑on Electrical design or support in power generation environments.
  • Experience contributing to Electrical system design (e.g., on‑site distribution (AC and DC), off‑site interfaces (switchyard), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system design, communications systems, or diesel generators).
  • Growing familiarity with nuclear regulatory guidance (e.g., NUREG‑0800 Ch. 8).
  • Experience applying relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electrical system design and analysis.
