Junior Infrastructure Engineer – Barclays UK

Build, maintain and support infrastructure platforms and products across hardware, software, networks, and cloud environments to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and secure. Apply best practices in automation, incident response, and collaborate across teams. Contribute to on‑call support on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and maintain infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
• Monitor IT infrastructure, identify and resolve issues, track performance metrics and reduce mean time to resolution.
• Develop and implement automated tasks and processes, utilising scripting and coding disciplines to improve efficiency.
• Implement secure configurations and controls to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks, vulnerabilities and other threats.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects and other engineers to define requirements and integrate solutions.
• Stay current with industry technology trends and share knowledge within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Understanding of core AWS Cloud Infrastructure elements such as EC2, ALB, and security groups.
• Experience developing and running code within dev‑ops pipeline tools such as CloudBees/Jenkins or GitLab.
• Basic knowledge of RHEL operating system commands.
• Experience supporting and monitoring production applications, incident resolution and change management.
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar) and container technologies.
• Experience with dashboards/queries using monitoring and logging tools such as DataDog.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with advanced AWS IaC elements and container orchestration.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
