Student Engagement Officer (Nottingham)
Location: Nottingham campus (will require coverage of all campuses)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Department: Directorate for Student Success
Reporting to: Student Hub Team Leader (Nottingham)
Job Purpose
The Student Engagement Officer is the first point of contact for students seeking advice and information at the Nottingham campus. They work as an embedded, fully collaborative member of the Student Hub and provide professional guidance, advice and signposting.
Responsibilities
- Provide positive, action‑oriented customer service as the first point of contact for students
- Assess students’ needs and issues to enable appropriate onward referrals
- Provide advice and guidance on enrolment, registration, financial support, disability, course enquiries, and administrative matters
- Disseminate information and guidance materials to students
- Maintain records and information statistics for the frontline service
- Maintain knowledge of student and academic policies and procedures
- Work as a team to ensure coverage at all campuses
- Support the University during events and busy periods (e.g., graduation, enrolment, clearing, Bucks Welcome)
- Co‑ordinate transition activities such as Bucks Welcome and joining instructions
- Comply with legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., Data Protection Act, GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity)
- Perform other duties as reasonably required
Qualifications
- Good general education to GCSE ‘’A’’ Level and beyond
- Experience delivering excellent customer experience
- Good knowledge of general administration
- Familiarity with university procedures and systems
- Methodical approach to work and attention to detail
- Awareness of financial support available to students in HE
- Digitally proficient with Microsoft tools
- Positive, upbeat approach to assisting others
- Willingness to travel to other campuses and occasional weekend work
