Job Description:

TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for a Naval Architect for one of our external clients. This is an exciting opportunity that can be based in either Northumberland or Aberdeenshire, offering involvement in a range of offshore and marine engineering projects within a dynamic and technically challenging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform seafastening design and verification for vessel mobilisations and offshore operations, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, class requirements and project specifications.
  • Carry out structural design and analysis of marine and offshore structures and equipment using FEA methods and hand calculations in line with applicable engineering codes and standards.
  • Provide on-site engineering support during vessel mobilisations and equipment installations, including attendance at fabrication yards, shipyards and offshore locations when required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and tender submissions, including defining scope, deliverables, schedules and resource/cost estimates.
  • Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers, promoting technical development and maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients and collaborate with project leads to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.
  • Conduct checking and quality assurance reviews of detailed engineering drawings, calculations and technical reports.
  • Complete on-site surveys, including photographic documentation, hand measurements and 3D scanning and process survey data for clash detection and design support.
  • Prepare and take ownership of engineering calculations, technical reports and operational/procedural documentation.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within the offshore sector, with a focus on structural engineering, offshore equipment, and seafastening design and verification.
  • Knowledge of class rules and standards relating to offshore and marine/vessel engineering.
  • Experience using FEA software for structural analysis, design and verification.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership, with organisations such as RINA, IMarEST, or equivalent professional bodies.
  • Experience using design software such as AutoCAD and Rhino.
