Purpose:

At DASI, the role of the Trade Compliance Officer is to work with the Trade Compliance Manager (TCM), and DASI’S third party Customs Brokers, to ensure accurate and timely presentation of all relevant documentation required for Customs clearance on all Inbound Shipments. Your role will include managing databases and supporting the TCM.

Key accountabilities:

• Maintain HS, HTS, Schedule B and ECCN for every part number within the parts master records.

• Review and update customs documentation, including declarations and commodity coding.

• Create and update Customs and regulatory policy, documentation and processes.

• Provide clear customs clearance instructions to forwarders and Customs brokers.

• Investigate and implement practices that support DASI in managing its duty payable and exposure.

• Minimise exposure to duties and taxes in relation to international trade.

• Develop and maintain trade compliance topics in all current regulations and provide internal training as required to relevant staff.

• Possible growth in the role to take on export compliance activity once part master database has been created on all current part numbers.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Key skills and competences:

• Can work efficiently on their own as well as in a team.

• Successfully manages high-volume workloads and shifts priorities in real-time based on fluctuating inbound shipment schedules and strict arrival deadlines.

• Can operate computerized systems and has good knowledge of excel and data management techniques.

• Able to communicate with senior management to drive duty savings via Unit Price List optimization.

• Capturing relevant US government regulatory changes and documenting for training purposes.

• Exercises sound professional judgment within the scope of the role, providing clear, data-driven justifications for compliance-related decisions.

• Maintains a proactive commitment to staying current with evolving global trade trends and regulatory landscapes.

• Thrives under pressure, maintaining high levels of accuracy and composure during peak shipping seasons or urgent audits

Experience and qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Good knowledge of UK/EU and USA Imports including ITAR.

• Knowledge of import regulations and procedures including country of origin; valuation; commercial invoice requirements; classification; import entry process, brokerage and international INCOTERMs.

• Mature approach to managing 3rd party logistics providers and customs brokers.

• Excellent knowledge of regulatory and customs requirements as they relate to the aviation industry.

• 5 years + experience in a compliance role essential.

• Strong internal & external communication skills.

• Strong written skills.

• Ability to work well both on your own and within a team environment.

• Proven experience with duty relief management, tariff classification, customs valuation and customs origin.
