International Trade & Customs Manager

Company: Aston Martin
Apply for the International Trade & Customs Manager
Location: Lighthorne
Job Description:

At Aston Martin, everything we do has a global footprint. Our cars are built in the UK and driven in more than 50 countries, which means trade and customs are a core part of how we operate every day. We’re looking for an International Trade & Customs Manager to join the team and play a key role in how we manage and develop our global trade framework. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a specialist area, combining hands‑on operational responsibility with broader strategic input. This is a hybrid role, with a blend of time spent at our Gaydon headquarters and working from home.

You’ll work closely with the Group Head of Tax, supporting both the day‑to‑day running of trade and customs activity and the longer‑term direction of how it evolves. On the operational side, you’ll take ownership of how customs processes run across the business. You’ll act as the main point of contact for queries, working closely with teams across Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales and Aftersales to resolve issues, keep goods moving, and ensure everything remains compliant. Alongside this, you’ll lead and continue to develop the existing trade and customs framework. This includes implementing customs special procedures, improving processes, and identifying opportunities to reduce duty and increase efficiency.

Strategic Responsibilities

There’s also a strong strategic element. You’ll support the development of the future operating model for trade and customs, contribute to wider projects around systems and technology, and help the business respond to an international landscape that is constantly evolving. Being able to quickly interpret change and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders will be an important part of the role. You’ll also manage a small team of 3 people, supporting their development while ensuring the function operates effectively day to day. Externally, you’ll engage with suppliers, HMRC, Chambers of Commerce and third‑party providers, representing Aston Martin where needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in a customs or international trade role within a large organisation or advisory environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and EU customs legislation
  • Experience with AEO, simplified procedures, and preferential origin
  • An understanding of how trade and customs interact with complex supply chains
  • The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across functions
  • Confidence using tools like Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in automotive, manufacturing, retail or logistics
  • Exposure to customs systems or technology projects
