Part-Time Financial Controller – Manchester & Surrounding Areas
About the RoleWe’re looking for an experienced, detail-driven Financial Controller to join The Part-Time Finance People and support a portfolio of ambitious SME clients across Manchester and the surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role where you’ll lead the finance function, bring clarity to the numbers, and help business owners make smarter, more confident decisions. You’ll work flexibly on a part-time basis, delivering real value where it’s needed most.
About YouYou’re an experienced Financial Controller who thrives in growing SME environments and enjoys making a tangible difference. You’re commercially minded, proactive, and confident communicating financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
Ideally, you’re already self-employed or operating on a contract basis, with availability of at least 2 days per week and able to start at short notice.
What You’ll Bring
Strong experience preparing management accounts and financial reports
Expertise in balance sheet reconciliations
Proven ability in cashflow management and profit forecasting
Experience with Xero (with exposure to Sage50 and/or QuickBooks a bonus)
A track record of implementing and improving financial controls
Commercial awareness and a practical, business-focused mindset
Experience supporting year-end processes (excluding statutory accounts)
Advanced Excel skills (including PivotTables, SUMIFs, and data visualisation)
Confidence presenting financial insights to non-financial leaders
Fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/FCCA/ICAEW) or QBE (5+ years), with experience managing a finance team
The Details
Rate: £35 per hour
Location: Manchester and surrounding areas
Hours: 2–3 days per week
