Production Planner

Location: Dungannon Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Can work 40 hours across 4 or 5 days | Flexi time available

VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Production Planner.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and analytical planning professional to play a key role in ensuring production runs efficiently from raw material through to final assembly. You’ll be responsible for developing achievable production schedules, monitoring progress across the factory, and working closely with multiple departments to ensure customer delivery targets are consistently met.

The Role Reporting to the Head of Production, you’ll coordinate production planning activities across the manufacturing operation, ensuring work flows efficiently through each department while maintaining accurate production data and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules across all manufacturing departments.
  • Allocate work based on available production capacity and standard labour hours.
  • Sequence production to maximise factory efficiency while meeting customer deadlines.
  • Review and verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) before releasing jobs to production.
  • Identify and resolve BOM discrepancies before manufacturing begins.
  • Conduct regular production reviews with manufacturing teams throughout the day.
  • Monitor shop floor progress against plan and adjust schedules where required.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure completed work progresses efficiently to the next stage of manufacture.
  • Monitor production performance and investigate schedule deviations.
  • Maintain accurate labour standards and planning data.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, production flow and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Stores and Assembly teams to communicate priorities and maintain workflow.

About You You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in production planning, scheduling or manufacturing coordination.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across multiple departments.
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

  • Metal fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Capacity planning experience.
