Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Services
Job Title: Deputy Manager Location: East London Salary: 39,000 – 47,700 Hours: 40 hours per week
About The Role: We are looking for experienced and highly capable Deputy Managers to support the leadership and day to day operations of a Children’s Residential Home in East London. This is a key role working alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates safely, effectively and in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
You will play a critical part in supporting staff, safeguarding young people and ensuring high quality, trauma informed care is consistently delivered. The role requires a hands on approach, with the ability to step into leadership when required and drive performance, culture, and outcomes within the home.
Key Responsibilities: As a Deputy Manager, you will:
- Work alongside the Registered Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the home
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager and take responsibility for the running of the service
- Support and supervise staff to ensure they meet the needs of young people and maintain high standards of care
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of all young people in line with safeguarding procedures and regulations
- Undertake direct work with young people, building positive relationships and supporting their development
- Lead on managing child protection concerns, incidents, and complaints in line with policy and legislation
- Support the implementation of the home’s Statement of Purpose and ensure objectives are achieved
- Work in partnership with external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people
- Ensure accurate record keeping, including care plans, risk assessments, and financial records
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes and continuous improvement within the service
- Support rota planning, staffing levels and resource allocation to ensure safe and effective care delivery
About You: We are looking for resilient, organised and committed individuals who can support leadership within a fast paced and demanding environment. You will have:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Experience working within a Children’s Residential Home
- Worked as a Team Leader or above in a Children’s Residential Home
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
- Experience in supervising and supporting staff teams
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
- A proactive, hands on approach to leadership and problem solving
