Salary

Guaranteed minimum c. £36,044 for CE (HGV 1) licence, £32,564 for C (HGV 2) licence. This includes a location allowance.

On Target Earnings

£42,120 for CE, £36,600 for C licence.

Shifts

Rolling roster: 18 days out of every 28, with two full weekends off.

Standard shift duration: 9 hours 45 minutes, including a 45‑minute break. Flexibility required: you may be needed to work up to 12 hours (including breaks) depending on operational needs.

Eligibility

Live within 25 miles or 1 hour travel from the depot (Depot postcode CM1 3SR).

What I’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver exceptional service by safely recovering vehicles and reassuring customers during breakdowns, helping them get back on the road quickly.
  • Work independently across varied locations and conditions, remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
  • Solve problems on the spot, using technical skills and a calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.
  • Stay solution‑focused and compliant with EU Regulations & WTD, representing The AA with professionalism and a drive to always push for better.

What I Need

  • A full Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence. If you already hold a Category CE (HGV Class 1) licence, great! If not, we’ll support you in gaining it.
  • A valid Driver CPC and a digital tachograph card.
  • Confidence using and adapting to new technology.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
