Highways Engineer

Our client, a prominent entity in the Highways sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Highways Engineer to join their Planned Maintenance Team within the Highway Operations service area on a full-time, contract basis. The team is part of a larger department that manages the Council’s highway infrastructure, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering a range of highway projects from inception to completion
• Conducting inspections and surveys
• Carrying out feasibility and options studies
• Overseeing project management and financial control
• Providing design, site supervision, and contract management
• Managing multiple complex projects or work programmes simultaneously
• Ensuring effective budgetary control of individual schemes

Job Requirements:

• Experience in highways engineering
• Proven knowledge and experience in delivering schemes in an urban environment
• HNC/BSc/BEng in civil engineering or other relevant and equivalent qualification
• Understanding of the political context and environment of a local authority
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
• Commitment to delivering high-quality service to the community
