About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that develop practical performance skills, theoretical knowledge, and creative composition. Depending on expertise, the role may also involve teaching Key Stage 5 Music or leading ensembles.

You will inspire pupils to explore a variety of musical styles, develop their skills in performance and composition, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music. The role also involves contributing to the wider musical life of the school through concerts, productions, and extracurricular activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Music lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Teaching practical performance, music theory, and composition

  • Supporting pupils in developing instrumental and vocal skills

  • Encouraging creativity, collaboration, and confidence through music

  • Assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback

  • Contributing to curriculum development and departmental resources

  • Supporting school concerts, productions, and extracurricular music activities

  • Maintaining music equipment and rehearsal spaces

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Have strong subject knowledge in Music

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for practical and theoretical music teaching

  • Possess strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be committed to inspiring pupils of all abilities

  • Be willing to contribute to the wider musical life of the school
