Section engineer

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join an HS2 scheme on a minimum 6-8 month contract. The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing sections of earthworks and drainage packages on a major infrastructure project, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality standards. Previous HS2 experience is highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities

• Managing and supervising site engineers and subcontractors across designated sections of work
• Overseeing setting out, earthworks, and drainage activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with design
• Coordinating daily site operations to ensure works are delivered safely and to programme
• Managing quality assurance processes, inspections, and ensuring accurate site documentation
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and ITPs to ensure works meet technical standards
• Liaising with site management, commercial, and design teams to resolve technical and delivery issues
• Driving and maintaining high health & safety standards across site operations

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major highways or HS2 infrastructure projects
• Strong background delivering earthworks and drainage packages
• SMSTS or SSSTS
• Valid CSCS card
• Experience managing engineers, subcontractors, and QA/ITP documentation
