Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Direct Sales, the Commercial Manager – Tesla will lead the Tesla function with full accountability for delivering its commercial objectives, establishing and maintaining a first‑class relationship with Tesla and all relevant stakeholders. The role will shape the long‑term strategy for the Tesla function and manage and execute initiatives that provide short‑ to medium‑term direction for the Tesla relationship.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning – develop and document a comprehensive and coherent sales development strategy for the Tesla business unit.
  • Operational planning – create an annual activity plan for the Tesla business unit and gain approval for annual spend.
  • Budgetary control – lead the delivery of the Tesla annual plan in line with the prescribed budget, through ongoing review and monitoring of costs.
  • Stakeholder Management – establish working relationships with Tesla, internal stakeholders and senior management.
  • Business Development – drive the sales function to deliver the optimal level of existing sales channels and support the launch of new strategic opportunities.
  • Sales intermediary oversight – ensure appropriate oversight of Tesla sales activity (primarily Tesla GB) through documented business reviews that focus on commercial and customer outcome metrics.
  • Remuneration and Incentives – ensure all remuneration and incentives are in line with company policy and commission pricing mandates.
  • Events and PR – agree Tesla’s annual events calendar with the Marketing Team and leverage the wider organisation’s PR and events activity.
  • Compliance – ensure all activity conducted by the Tesla sales function is compliant with legal, regulatory and business perspectives, with a focus on sustainability and good customer outcomes.
  • Risk – deal with or escalated identified risks in accordance with the Santander UK group risk framework.
  • Other – carry out any other tasks from time to time as reasonably requested.

Qualifications

  • Previous management experience leading business units at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Extensive experience within Sales and Business Development in the motor‑related financial services sector.
  • Experience with multiple stakeholder management and exposure to external OEM partners.
  • Proficient in producing sound strategic documentation and presentations, including business case proposals, briefs and presentations.
  • Strong understanding of the general market sector, sound business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when dealing with senior management.
  • Appreciation of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to sales and customer management within the financial services sector; familiarity with FAC principles and the ‘treating customer fairly’ code of conduct (desirable).

Employment Details

  • Location: Redhill, Surrey.
  • Reporting to: Head of Business Development and Direct Sales.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (part‑time options available upon request).
