Job Description:

The Production Manager fulfils a critical role within the organisation and is responsible for operational activity within the Repairs and Voids Maintenance teams and the management of several direct reports including Site Managers, Contract Delivery Supervisors, Surveyors and other Officers and subordinates as necessary. The Production Manager will deputise for the Operations Manager in their absence and will take a lead role in communicating with clients, external agencies and ensuring performance targets are achieved. The Production Manager will work across multiple contracts as necessary, providing management, leadership, support etc. the role involves a significant degree of responsibility, decision making and autonomy. The Production Manager is responsible for all activities undertaken by the Site Managers, the Contract Delivery Supervisors, their operatives, and nominated contractors – overseeing and taking responsibility for the successful delivery of all aspects of the work streams they are delivering. Promoting service delivery, innovation, recognizing and implementing best practice and continuous improvement to benefit the contract and client are key aspects of the role. The ability to develop and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and all stakeholders is also a key competence. The key objectives of the Production Manager include:

Key Objectives

  • Providing support, mentoring and continual guidance for the team, reporting back to the Operations Manager where needed.
  • Ensure all activities meet with requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care – seeking further advice where appropriate.
  • Ensure that all role profiles and daily disciplines for direct / indirect reports are executed to the required standards.
  • Undertake appraisals and 1 to 1’s to capture the development needs of each individual, with a focus on succession planning.
  • To either mobilise or provide absence cover in accordance with your job role and position within the organisation.
  • Manage and liaise with the client to build effective relationships to retain contracts and instigate organic business growth.
  • Recommend necessary changes to improve performance based on analysis of weekly/daily Key Performance Indicator statistics
  • Maintain minimum resource levels to achieve internal commercial and safety targets without compromising customer requirements.
  • Escalate any issue of concern/potential concern to the Operations Manager as required to ensure a pro-active approach is maintained and service delivery is not impacted.
  • Lead, motivate and direct your teams on all work streams to ensure high working standards.
  • To ensure daily that the contract is delivered to the specific contractual requirements.
  • Maintain high levels of Health and Safety on site at all times.
  • Ensure daily inspections (10%) are completed by the relevant managers/supervisors for their operatives / nominated subcontractors.
  • To liaise with managers/supervisors to implement the most efficient and profitable daily plan for operatives to deliver.
  • To keep the Operations Manager informed of relevant developments producing weekly reports and regular project performance reviews.
  • To attend Client and contract performance reviews as required by the Company.
  • To work closely with the contract Quantity Surveyor ensuring accurate cost and employee allocation.
  • Work closely with other Managers to improve service delivery, identify commercial opportunities, make efficiencies in operational processes and maximise the resources available allocating them to the benefit of the Company.
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by your Line Manager from time to time.

  • To provide managerial support to senior management.
  • To monitor and track progress of jobs in jeopardy, overdue jobs, completions and closing down of orders.
  • To assist with disciplinary action when required.
  • To effectively and proactively assist in supporting the team to achieve KPI’s.
  • To ensure effective management of the Company’s IT System, monitoring and keeping on top of workflow actions.
  • To professionally represent the company at meetings with clients and stakeholders.
  • To take responsibility and ownership for your KPI’s to reflect actual performance of your team
  • To lead the team to achieve objectives whilst meeting contractual obligations.
  • To develop and maintain effective and positive client relationships.
  • To contribute to long term development of the contract(s) in accordance with the client’s requirements, securing appropriate contract variations as required.
  • To maintain the operational systems and processes necessary for the efficient and effective delivery of the service.
  • To manage Health and Safety in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • To promote training and development of employees to maximise their effectiveness.
