Our mission is to provide timely, efficient, and effective healthcare experiences through our cutting-edge technology platform, ensuring world-class safety and a unique approach to patient care. Join a passionate, dedicated team striving to make healthcare fit for the 21st century.
The Role:We’re seeking an experienced Lead Test Engineer to own and evolve our automated testing capability, driving the next phase of our quality journey. You’ll expand and improve our Playwright-based automation framework, increasing coverage, enhancing reliability, and integrating automation into delivery workflows. This hands-on role involves shaping our testing approach for new functionality, including UI, API, and service components. You will collaborate closely with engineers and QA colleagues, providing guidance and practical support, particularly in mentoring manual QA testers in automation. This role reports directly to the CTO and requires a pragmatic, self-directed individual capable of delivering at pace with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Owning and evolving our Playwright UI automation suite, expanding critical user journey coverage.
- Designing and maintaining robust, scalable Playwright tests (preferably .NET with BDD/ReqnRoll knowledge).
- Improving automation quality (stability, speed) and integrating testing within CI/CD (e.g., Azure DevOps).
- Defining test approaches for new functionality, including APIs and serverless components (Azure Functions).
- Collaborating with development teams to embed testability from the outset.
- Mentoring manual QA testers, fostering their automation skills and creating clear documentation.
- Proactively identifying and proposing improvements across our wider quality approach (e.g., API automation, performance, test data).
About You:You have proven experience building and maintaining test automation in modern software environments, with strong hands-on Playwright expertise (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred). You possess a solid understanding of testing strategy, balancing UI, API, and integration testing for efficient confidence. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (ideally Azure DevOps) and testing .NET backend/JavaScript frontend systems is essential. You’re adept at testing APIs and service components, a strong problem-solver, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills are key, along with experience coaching or informally leading within a QA function.
Benefits:
- Workplace pension scheme
- 28 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Flexible working hours
- Private Healthcare Insurance
- Discount schemes & Employee Assistance Programme
- Career development opportunities
Working Arrangements:This is a 100% remote role within the UK (35 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm). Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and a private, confidential home workspace.
