Finance Director Location West Midlands with hybrid working Salary : Negotiable depending on experience
Starting Point Recruitment is partnering with a prestigious organisation in the West Midlands to appoint a commercially focused Finance Director.
The Opportunity This is not a traditional Finance Director role focused purely on reporting. This is a commercially driven position at the heart of the organisation, working closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to influence strategy, drive performance and unlock growth opportunities. You will play a key role in shaping the commercial direction of the organisation, with involvement across procurement, business development and revenue generation, alongside leading the finance function.This is a highly visible role where you will act as a true business partner, challenging decision making, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping to maximise value across the organisation. You will lead a small finance team of four, remaining hands-on while also operating at a strategic level. There is also a significant opportunity to review and improve current finance systems and processes, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys driving change and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Lead financial and commercial strategy to support business growth and performance Provide insight and challenge to senior leadership to support decision making Drive budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis aligned to commercial objectives Identify opportunities to improve revenue, reduce costs and optimise performance Support procurement and business development activity to maximise value Lead improvements across systems, processes and financial controls Ensure robust financial governance, compliance and risk management Develop and lead a high-performing finance team Represent the organisation externally and act as a senior ambassador when required
About You Professionally qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent experience Strong commercial finance background with the ability to influence business performance Proven experience operating at a senior leadership or Finance Director level Comfortable being hands-on while also contributing strategically Confident in challenging and influencing senior stakeholders Experience in driving change, improving systems and delivering efficiencies Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a desire to add value
