Job Description:

Octopus Energy has grown exponentially over the last ten years into a complex multi‑billion‑turnover international group, participating in retail utilities, utility management, generation, EV leasing and software sales. To support continuous growth, we are implementing new business‑management applications to streamline finance operations and improve efficiency.

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to assess and define the integration strategy in our Finance Systems team. The role involves evaluating our current landscape, defining a vision of “better,” and identifying the most effective path to meaningful change.

What you’ll do

  • Make strategic and architectural technical decisions focused on financial operational systems (Finance, Supply Chain Procurement, and Sales).
  • Define and evaluate architecture options for finance systems and integrations, presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Define a cohesive, consistent data model that serves as the foundation for all financial systems while maintaining a global view of impacts on other tech systems.
  • Assess existing systems and propose solutions to evolve finance technology to keep pace with rapid business growth.
  • Collaborate with internal and external development teams during solution design to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
  • Work closely with TechOps and Security to ensure the chosen solution is scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards.

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience designing finance technology and integration architectures in fast‑growing, agile organisations.
  • Strong experience with complex systems integration projects.
  • Experience delivering system migrations or transformations while maintaining business continuity.
  • Strong understanding of integration technologies and application architectures.
  • Knowledge of modern integration patterns, REST APIs, and contemporary data architecture.
  • Understanding of Single Sign‑On (SSO) and identity provisioning technologies such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML and SCIM.
  • Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and present complex integration concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
