Job Description
WSP is seeking a Senior or Mining Engineer to join our Mine Engineering & Stability Team. The role involves integrated mining studies and advisory, supporting mining operations and studies across the life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead mining studies and projects from conception to completion.
- Provide advice on mining methods, development paths, life-of-mine planning, and optimisation strategies.
- Develop cost models and perform financial analyses (options studies, project economic analysis).
- Support due diligence reviews for mergers, acquisitions or project finance, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Act as an interface between mine advisory disciplines (geotechnical, water, tailings, closure) and capital projects, asset management, and environmental groups.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Provide safety leadership, identifying and eliminating high-priority hazards.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, offering guidance and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in mining operations and studies.
- Proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac). Familiarity with other relevant mining software.
- Leadership experience and ability to inspire and mentor engineers.
- Excellent communication, report‑writing, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Prior consulting experience is highly regarded.
