Pastoral Support Worker – Secondary School – Camden – September 2026 Start – Full-Time

Are you an experienced Pastoral Support Worker or Behaviour Mentor looking to secure your next role for September 2026 in a vibrant, diverse secondary school? Are you calm, resilient, and committed to helping young people overcome barriers and thrive both emotionally and academically?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with inclusive and well-regarded secondary schools in Camden, seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join their pastoral and safeguarding teams on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. This is a key role where you will have a direct impact on students’ wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development from the start of the academic year.

Pastoral Support Worker – Role Overview

In this role, you will support students across KS3 and KS4, particularly those facing emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges. You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support for targeted students
  • Support students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and social difficulties
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to improve engagement and outcomes
  • Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and attendance teams
  • Deliver behaviour support strategies and lead restorative conversations
  • Monitor student progress, wellbeing, and attendance
  • Liaise with parents/carers to support student development
  • Support reintegration plans and early intervention strategies
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a secondary school setting (essential)
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build rapport with students from diverse urban backgrounds
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service xwzovoh (or willingness to apply)
