We are partnering with a progressive public sector organisation to appoint a Strategic HR Business Partner to join their HR & OD leadership team on a 3-month contract. This is a pivotal, senior role where you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, driving people strategy, organisational transformation, and cultural change.
⚠️Please note: Recent Local Authority / Council experience is essential for this role.
As a key member of the HR & OD leadership team, you will:
- Partner with senior leaders as part of the Senior Management Team
- Shape and deliver strategic HR initiatives aligned to organisational goals
- Drive transformation, workforce planning, and organisational design
- Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and values-driven culture
- Influence decision-making through data, insight, and strategic expertise
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of people strategies that support long-term organisational performance and sustainability
- Drive organisational design, restructuring, and change management programmes
- Support talent, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives
- Champion employee engagement, inclusion, and continuous improvement
- Lead on complex employee relations matters, providing risk-based, commercially sound advice
- Utilise HR analytics and digital solutions to inform decision-making
- Build and maintain strong trade union relationships
- Contribute to transformation programmes and wider organisational change initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Strategic HR Business Partner / Senior HRBP
- Recent experience within a Local Authority / Council (essential)
- Strong background in organisational design, transformation, and change management
- Expertise in complex employee relations and employment law
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and operating at SMT level
- Data-driven approach with strong analytical capability
- Passion for driving culture, engagement, and organisational excellence
