About The Role

We are excited to invite a dynamic and dedicated Teacher of GCSE Science to lead our 14+ Academies. The 14+ Academies are alternative learning environments for Year 10 and 11 students who need a different approach from mainstream schools. The setting offers smaller class sizes, a focused curriculum, and a strong emphasis on vocational learning.

In this role you will develop study plans, deliver engaging lessons, and support students’ academic progress across the curriculum. A high staff‑to‑student ratio enables relationships that encourage personal and academic growth.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Update, reflect and maintain the 14+ Academies tracking systems continuously, recognising the need for interventions and putting them in place.
  • Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
  • Work within the 14+ Academies ethos and culture as well as using relevant tools and concepts such as the effort descriptors and APLs (Academy Progress Levels).
  • Set targets with individual learners to assist in their academic or development progress, including at Personal Progress Days and the writing of parent/carer reports.

About You

  • Experience and knowledge of supporting young people both academically and developmentally, including those aged 14-16.
  • Recent teaching delivery in relevant subject areas (PGCE teaching placements/experience would also qualify) demonstrating outstanding practice.
  • Experience of positively managing learner academic progress in an educational setting, including those aged 14-16.
  • Ability to work positively and effectively as a member of a team and on own initiative.
