About Us

Dolmen Conservation & Joinery Ltd specialises in the repair, conservation and manufacture of bespoke joinery for historic and listed buildings throughout the South East.

Our work includes traditional timber windows, doors, architectural joinery and conservation-led repairs for private clients, churches, heritage organisations and principal contractors.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and capable Bench Joiner to join our workshop team.

The successful candidate will be confident working from technical drawings and capable of manufacturing bespoke joinery independently, whilst supporting the Workshop Manager with the delivery of projects.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in quality craftsmanship and has experience producing high‑quality joinery rather than volume production work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture bespoke timber windows, doors and associated joinery
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists
  • Work independently to produce joinery to a high standard
  • Undertake traditional joinery techniques including mortice and tenon construction
  • Machine and prepare hardwoods and softwoods safely and efficiently
  • Carry out repairs and conservation works to historic timber elements where required
  • Assist with workshop organisation, quality control and project delivery
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bench Joinery, Carpentry & Joinery, Architectural Joinery, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience manufacturing bespoke joinery within a workshop environment
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings without supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Experience using woodworking machinery safely and competently
  • Reliable, self‑motivated and capable of working as part of a small team
  • Heritage, conservation or listed building experience
  • Traditional timber window and door manufacture
  • Sash window repairs and conservation work
  • Full UK Driving Licence

What We Offer

  • Interesting and varied heritage projects
  • A skilled and supportive workshop team
  • Opportunities for further development and training
  • Long‑term employment within a growing specialist conservation company

If you are an experienced joiner looking to work on high‑quality bespoke and heritage projects, we would be pleased to hear from you.
