Position: Full‑time, Long‑term (Term Time Only). Salary: £90 – £95 per day, weekly pay dependent on experience. Start date: Immediate / Next Term.
We are seeking dedicated specialists to work within SEND Schools and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). This role is designed for those who want to support students with complex SEMH needs, autism, or ADHD, helping them manage their emotions and finding success in a way that works for them.
Benefits and Working Environment
- Therapeutic Focus: Move beyond traditional discipline using trauma‑informed approaches to help students understand their feelings and self‑regulate.
- Specialist Environment: Work in small class sizes with high staff‑to‑pupil ratios, allowing you to build deep, meaningful bonds with the students you support.
- Career Progression: Exceptional experience for those looking to move into Counselling, SEN Teaching, or Behavioural Therapy.
- Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates of £90 – £95 per day, paid every Friday via Randstad.
Responsibilities
- De‑escalation and Crisis Support: Use specialist training (such as TeamTeach or MAPA) to safely manage challenging moments and help students return to a state of calm.
- Personalised Mentoring: Work 1:1 to implement Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs), using sensory breaks and positive reinforcement to build confidence.
- Social and Life Skills: Help students develop the tools they need to communicate their needs effectively, reducing the need for acting out through frustration.
- Holistic Tracking: Work closely with Therapists, SENCOs, and families to ensure a 360‑degree approach to the students’ well‑being and progress.
Essential Requirements
- Unflappable: Calm and non‑confrontational manner, able to maintain composure during high‑stress situations.
- Empathetic: Can look past challenging behaviour to see the child underneath, understanding trauma or neurodiversity that may be driving their actions.
- Relevant Experience: Prior experience in SEND, youth work, residential care, or a background in Psychology is highly desirable.
- Committed: Holds an enhanced DBS on the update service (or is willing to obtain one) and is dedicated to safeguarding.
