Disability support Worker
Sense Education have Disability Support Worker position available in a specialist unit for young people with SEND in the Ulverston area. The roles are for people who are confident to support young people with additional needs in the classroom. We welcome people to apply from all backgrounds.
If you have experience of working with young people or adults with disabilities this gives a great advantage. We are looking for part time and full time people to support the pupils in the classroom.
The Role:
- To support students in small groups or 1-1 on additional activities, this could be day trips, Art therapy and Music therapy.
- Be energetic, caring and have patience.
- To complete learning journals of each pupils development each day.
The ideal person for the role:
- Will be kind and caring with a consistent approach.
- A great communicator to communicate with a large staffing network and parents/guardians.
- Have a knowledge of additional needs especially Autism, this could be from a work setting or personal experiences.
- Caring and positive.
- Committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for pupils to learn.
Qualifications/Experience:
- A recognised childcare/ care qualification or equivalent.(NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
- A current DBS that is registered with the update service (if you don’t have an up to date DBS we can assist in applying for one).
- Knowledge or experience working with SEND.
- Be reliable, punctual, trustworthy.
School hours are 8.45- 3.30

Pay Rate:£14.60 – £16.90 per hour

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
