A welcoming and high‑achieving primary school in Hammersmith is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their KS1 team from September. This Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting a pupil with SEN on a 1:1 basis, alongside assisting within the wider classroom environment. For experienced Teaching Assistants and those new to the education sector, this is an excellent opportunity for a graduate seeking Teaching Assistant experience before teacher training, or for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to progress within a supportive and thriving primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Believe that every child can succeed and reach their potential
  • Be organised, adaptable, resilient, and proactive as a Teaching Assistant

  • Be confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Support pupils to make strong academic and social progress under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Deliver targeted interventions on a 1:1 or small‑group basis
  • Help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support pupils with emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

Person Specification

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young learners
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn as a Teaching Assistant
