Engineering Lead – Director

Overview

Lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to deliver high‑quality software solutions. Drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture to achieve project goals and meet objectives. Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure successful delivery within scope, time, and budget.
• Mentor and support team members’ professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize productivity.
• Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
• Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure delivery of high‑quality solutions.
• Maintain governance, risk management, and compliance with relevant policies and standards; ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership across engineering, product, and delivery functions to define and execute strategy, manage interlocks and dependencies, and drive delivery at scale.

Essential Skills

• Strong engineering leadership experience across frontend and full‑stack platforms in complex, regulated environments.
• High‑level understanding of domain and business contexts relevant to the role, including onboarding and client journeys.
• Hands‑on experience with Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern UI engineering practices.
• Experience designing and building Java‑based APIs and microservices, including backend‑for‑frontend patterns.
• Experience creating and governing shared frameworks, platforms, or engineering capabilities at scale.
• Understanding of API design, performance optimization, security, and integration patterns.
• Experience working in Agile delivery models and multi‑team structures; ability to balance hands‑on contribution with leadership.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate across technical and business audiences.
• Understanding of operational resilience, vulnerability management, and production support considerations.
• Experience with mobile technologies and mobile‑first design principles.

• Design and evolve organization‑wide UI frameworks, shared components, and engineering standards for consistency and rapid delivery.
• Ensure delivery outcomes across quality, time, cost, and risk; act as escalation point for complex delivery and production issues.
