Locations: Epsom, Birmingham, Leeds, or Glasgow (Hybrid: Minimum 3 days a week in-office/client site)
Sector: Power & Energy Solutions
Client Portfolio: National Grid, SSEN Transmission, and international energy networks
Are you an experienced electrical engineer ready to step into a senior technical leadership role? Do you want to play a defining part in the UK’s journey to Net Zero?
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Primary Plant Design to lead multi-disciplinary project teams from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through to Detailed Design.
The Role
As a senior member of our Electrical Engineering team, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering delivery and strategic client relationships. You will act as a technical figurehead on major transmission and distribution projects, ensuring quality, mentoring junior staff, and driving business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead and quality-assure FEED and Detailed Design workstreams for core clients like National Grid and SSEN.
- HV Plant Specialism: Review and sign off on high-voltage layout configurations, elevations, maintenance access drawings, earthing designs, mechanical interlocking, and HV busbar calculations.
- Project & Tender Management: Manage tender packages, develop technical offers, and coordinate seamlessly with back-office engineering teams, sub-contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Safety & Review Leadership: Chair crucial Design Review and Hazard Review meetings, occasionally stepping in as the Principal Designer Representative.
- Team Growth: Oversee resource allocation and mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical progression and journey toward Chartership.
About You
You are a collaborative, curious engineer who thrives in a consultancy environment. You know how to build trust with clients, translate their complex needs into successful workstreams, and foster an inclusive team culture where everyone belongs.
Your Experience & Qualifications
- Academic Foundation: Minimum 2:2 BEng in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline.
- HV Expertise: Proven experience in Electrical Engineering with a dedicated focus on Primary Plant design (experience up to 400kV is highly desirable but not essential).
- Consultative Skills: Strong track record of managing tender packages, attending site visits, and interfacing directly with major network clients.
- Accreditation: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or a clear motivation to achieve professional accreditation with our full corporate support.
What We Offer
- Impactful Projects: Direct involvement in shaping the UK’s energy transition and grid modernization.
- Professional Development: Tailored training, mentorship, and financial/structural support to help you achieve or maintain chartership.
- Agile & Collaborative Culture: A hybrid working model that values the power of in-person collaboration (3 days a week in-office or on-site) to accelerate learning and strengthen team bonds.
