About the Role
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that develop students’ understanding of nutrition, food preparation, health and safety, and culinary skills. You will create a positive classroom environment where students can learn through practical experiences while maintaining high standards of behaviour and achievement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Prepare and organise practical cooking activities safely and effectively.
- Teach students about nutrition, food science and healthy lifestyles.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain high standards of classroom and kitchen safety.
- Support positive behaviour and student engagement in lessons.
- Contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent subject knowledge and practical teaching ability.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
- Professional, reliable and adaptable approach.
Additional Candidate Criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- Up‑to‑date CV with two references from the last 2 years.
- DBS registration on the update service, or willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
