TMC Limited are market leaders in the supply, design and manufacture of lorry mounted and ship mounted cranes. Our two purpose built sites and extensive range of equipment, including a new Doosan Puma machine centre and Esprit Lightning Plasma Cutter, enable us to provide the complete service to our clients.
CNC Machinist – Experienced Operator & Programmer
We are looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in operating and programming CNC and manual machines, particularly with FANUC controls. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings, and confident in problem‑solving when required.
About Us
We operate a 4‑axis PUMA 5100 CNC Lathe and a 3‑axis DNM650 CNC Milling Machine, both with FANUC controls, as well as several manual lathes and milling machines. Our workshop is a dynamic environment where precision, efficiency, and teamwork are key to delivering high‑quality products.
The ideal candidate must be able to work well either alone or as part of a team, read drawings and help find solutions to problems. This will be a challenging, varied but rewarding role to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Programming & Operation – Program and operate FANUC‑controlled CNC machines efficiently and accurately.
- Manual Machining – Operate manual lathes and milling machines as needed.
- Technical Drawing Interpretation – Work closely with the design department to review and interpret engineering drawings as required.
- Machine Setup & Adjustment – Set up, calibrate, and adjust machine setups safely and effectively.
- Workplace Organization – Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are stored correctly.
- Quality Control & Problem‑Solving – Identify and troubleshoot issues, ensuring all components meet required specifications.
- Team Collaboration – Work effectively with other team members to complete projects on time while maintaining high‑quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in CNC machining (programming and operation).
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in FANUC controls.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with accuracy.
- Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines is a plus.

Work Details
Job Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm. Overtime after 40 hours (Saturday overtime available). Company pension and holiday pay.
Work Location: Cheadle (Staffordshire).
