The Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue and gross profit growth within an assigned geographic region by developing new business opportunities and expanding existing customer relationships.
The position focuses on delivering value-based sales solutions across a full range of products and services, while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term account retention. The Area Sales Manager is accountable for achieving sales targets, managing regional leads, and maintaining strong engagement through both remote and in-person interactions.
Compensation includes a performance-based variable component, which is uncapped and tied to revenue and gross profit performance.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities within the assigned region
Manage and grow existing customer accounts to achieve revenue and profitability targets
Develop and execute regional sales plans aligned with annual business objectives
Conduct reactivation campaigns to re-engage dormant or inactive accounts
Deliver professional sales presentations tailored to customer needs
Schedule and conduct in-person customer visits as required
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and sales activity records in CRM systems
Coordinate order management activities, including order entry, contract review, delivery performance, and returns
Collaborate with internal teams (operations, procurement, quality, finance, and marketing) to address customer needs and improve service levels
Identify opportunities for cost savings, value-added services, and competitive differentiation
Follow up on quotations and customer inquiries in a timely manner
Monitor key performance indicators to identify gaps in account performance and implement corrective actions
Continuously develop product, technical, and market knowledge
Support marketing initiatives through timely lead follow-up
Attend customer meetings, industry events, and internal business meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 2 years of industrial sales experience
Minimum 5 years of experience with test and measurement equipment
Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
Experience in delivering documented cost savings and value-based solutions
Strong customer relationship management skills
Highly motivated with the ability to drive sales growth and business development
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and time management skills
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel daily or weekly within the assigned region to meet customers
Ability to attend periodic business meetings and industry events
Full UK driving licence
