Role Purpose

As an IT Onsite Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair computer systems and equipment. You will also provide routine technical support and checks assisting the wider teams to ensure continuous availability of the IT network, infrastructure, and equipment within the SLA’s.

About the role

Responsible for the following:

  • Asset control and stock ordering of devices.
  • Assisting users with hardware issuing or replacement.
  • Ensuring support requests resolve within defined SLA.
  • Documenting support requests within the ITSM tool.
  • Sending devices off to repair and liaising with vendors.
  • Adhering to processes and procedures.
  • Setting up mobile phones.
  • Hardware refreshes.
  • Providing additional support to client and internal meeting rooms.
  • Daily backup tape changes.
  • Hardware maintenance and assisting troubleshooting of storage and server controllers.
  • Replacing storage disks and server blades as required.
  • Physical daily checks of system hardware health and lights; including room systems such as air conditioning, fire suppression, and UPS.
  • Switch upgrades, console and backups; some proficiency in network skills.
  • Cable tracing to troubleshoot issues in comms rooms.
  • Troubleshooting onsite wireless issues and deployments, including local surveys.
  • Chaperoning vendors during maintenance work and tasks.
  • Participating in project work and non-business hour deployments.
  • Assisting with video conferencing for meeting rooms.

Qualifications and experience

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Broad software application skills desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to master new software applications and technologies.
  • Prior experience with a ticketing system strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in network skills.
  • At least 2+ years of experience with Windows operating systems and hardware in a computer support setting.
  • Experience in a networked environment.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL service management and its processes is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of AV systems and telecommunications would be beneficial.
