Job Purpose
As a CAD Technician, you will work independently to create detailed and accurate technical drawings and models for various civil engineering projects in the fields of bridges, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering. You will collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to ensure designs are translated into CAD drawings that adhere to project specifications and industry standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Produce high‑quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for civil engineering projects.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and project teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect design requirements.
- Modify and update drawings as required, incorporating changes and feedback from the design team.
- Maintain organised records of CAD files, ensuring that all documents are stored and controlled according to company procedures.
- Carry out administrative functions as required by the Senior Technician.
- Work to project timelines and budgets while communicating with Project Managers.
Person Specification
- Education: Diploma or certification in CAD Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Skills: Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit; good understanding of civil engineering design principles; attention to detail; effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience: 3–5 years as a CAD Technician in a civil engineering consultancy or related field; awareness of BIM standards and ISO 19650 workflows; familiarity with databases and cloud‑based collaboration platforms such as BIM 360/ProjectWise.
- Personal Attributes: Able to work independently and as part of a team; organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; committed to delivering high‑quality work within deadlines.
Additional Notes
Ideally, candidates should have availability to spend 4–5 days in the office weekly. Located <60 mins travel time to our Croydon office is preferable.
