Job Title: Reliability & Controls Engineer • Location: Runcorn, England • Contract: 12-month Fixed Term • Work Pattern: Monday–Friday core hours (OT available) • Closing Date: 24 June 2026
Responsibilities
- Act as the site subject matter expert for PLC and control systems, maintaining and improving technology underpinning manufacturing performance.
- Ensure all control systems are reliable, supportable and future‑proofed.
- Provide rapid breakdown support, own PLC standards and backups, and manage OT assets to minimise risk and downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement across the site, optimising performance, enhancing system capability and ensuring robust control system design and compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications
- Time‑served Controls or Electrical Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in Siemens PLC systems (S7/TIA Portal).
- Proven ability to fault‑find in high‑pressure breakdown situations.
- Comfortable working across HMIs, drives and industrial networks, interpreting electrical schematics and control logic.
- Proactive, problem‑solving mindset, confident coaching and upskilling others; influencing best practice across the site.
- Strong communication skills, focus on continuous improvement, understanding of system ownership, asset management and risk mitigation.
- Experience with PLC backups, OT environments or high‑volume manufacturing is advantageous.
