Position Overview

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic GI service in Forth Valley. The successful applicant will contribute to the general clinical Gastroenterology and GI endoscopy service and work within an integrated unit that focuses on a team‑based approach to patient care. The appointment will play an important role in the continuing development and redesign of Gastroenterology services.

We have a fully equipped endoscopy department with 4 rooms (1 screening room) and an endoscopy team to include colorectal and upper GI surgeons as well as five nurse endoscopists.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to general clinical Gastroenterology and GI endoscopy service.
  • Provide out‑of‑hours commitment to GI bleed rota (prospective cover of colleagues).
  • Participate in team‑based approach to patient care and help develop and redesign Gastroenterology services.
  • Collaborate with surgical colleagues for complex inpatient care (hepato‑pancreato‑biliary disease, inflammatory bowel disease, acute gastro‑intestinal bleeds).
  • Attend weekly upper GI / HPB / colorectal / IBD multidisciplinary team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Wide range of experience in Gastroenterology.
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
  • Registered with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT at the time of interview.
  • Applicants applying under the Portfolio pathway must be entered onto the GMC Specialist Register at time of application.
  • Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development.
  • Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills.
